How to change the name or location of an apiary

You change the apiary name in Apiary settings. You do not change the apiary location in the app: the app gets it from the Hub of this apiary.

How to change the apiary name

  1. Open the Apiaries tab and tap the apiary card.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top bar.
  3. Select Settings. The Apiary settings screen opens.
  4. Change the Name field.
  5. Tap Save. The app shows Changes saved.

The apiary name can have up to 100 characters. Two apiaries can have the same name. The owner or a person with full access can change the name.

How to change the hive name

  1. Open the hive.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu and select Settings. The Hive settings screen opens.
  3. In the Hive section, change the Hive name. Here you can also change the number of frames and the screened bottom board.
  4. Tap Save.

The hive name must be different from the names of the other hives in this apiary.

Where the apiary location comes from

  • The apiary has no location of its own. The Hub of this apiary gives the location: from GPS or from the mobile network.
  • The app has no location field, no map and no address.
  • The apiary card shows the town that the server found.
  • An apiary without a Hub has no location. For this reason it also has no weather.
  • The weather works when the Hub has a position and connected in the last 24 hours. Before the weather shows, the app shows Waiting for weather data from your location.

How to change the apiary location

The location changes together with the Hub. When you move an apiary with its Hub to a different place, the Hub gives the new position after the next connection.

When the apiary card shows the wrong town, the Hub does not have a good satellite position. The Hub must stand outdoors, under the open sky. Under a roof, in a building or in a car, it does not get the satellite signal. Put the Hub outdoors and wait until it gives the new position.

Order of hives

You cannot change the order of hives in the list manually. The list of hives in an apiary is in alphabetical order by name. The app compares numbers in the name as numbers: "Hive 2" comes before "Hive 10". To change the order of the hives, change their names.
