What the frame analysis result shows

The frame analysis result shows the comb composition (brood, stores, empty cells), the queen cells, the comb coverage and the number of bees. Below the result there are Recommendations. The frame analysis does not detect varroa or other diseases.

Parts of the frame analysis result

Swipe through the layers with your finger. Each layer has its own card:

  • Comb composition: the number of cells and the share of each group in percent of the comb surface. Brood is eggs, larvae, worker brood, drone brood and capped brood. Stores is capped honey, honey, nectar and bee bread. Empty + obscured is empty cells and areas that bees cover or that are too uncertain to assess.
  • Queen cells: the number of queen cells and queen cups. Queen cells can mean a swarming mood, a silent supersedure or a queenless colony. The app tells you to check the colony within a few days. Queen cups alone are normal.
  • Comb coverage: the Comb surface in percent, that is, how much of the image the comb fills.
  • Bee census: the Workers, Drones and Queen found on the frame.

When you sent more than one photo, switch between the photos: First, Middle, Last.

What the frame analysis does not show

  • The frame analysis does not detect varroa. You check varroa with an examination (natural drop or sugar roll) and with the disease alerts from the VitalSensor. Apisense PRO AI
  • The frame analysis does not detect diseases and does not create disease alerts.
  • The frame analysis does not change the Colony strength level. The inspection calculates the colony strength.

How to compare several frame analyses

The FrameSense tab on the hive screen shows the list of analyses, newest first. Each row shows Brood, Stores, Queen cells and Comb area. Compare the rows to see the change over time.

When the result is not correct

  1. Open the result and tap Rate.
  2. In the Rate this analysis window, select Yes or No.
  3. Describe what is not correct and tap Save.

How to delete a frame analysis

Open the result, open the menu and select Delete. The app shows Analysis deleted successfully.

Good to know

  • The Recommendations are hints, not the advice of a veterinarian.
  • The assistant does not look at the photos. The assistant sees only the description of the analysis result.
  • The result is for the frames in the photos, not for the whole hive.
