I moved my apiary to a new place

Move the hives together with the Hub and the Scale. You do not change the apiary location in the app. The app gets it from the Hub. Add a note about the move. If the hives go to a different apiary in the app, move each hive.

The full apiary moves together with the Hub

  1. Move all hives, the Hub and the Scale together.
  2. Install the Hub at the new place in the same way as before: outdoors, panel to the sun, up to 35 m from the hives.
  3. Use your phone to check that there is mobile network coverage at the new place.
  4. Add a note in the app that the apiary changed its place.
  5. Scale: after you put the hive in place, check the weight chart. If necessary, tare the Scale.

You do not change anything more in the app. The devices stay in their hives. The history stays.

How the app knows the apiary location

  • The apiary location comes from the Hub: from GPS or from the mobile network base station.
  • The app has no location field, map or address. You cannot set the location manually.
  • The weather and the weather recommendations use the position of the Hub.
  • An apiary without a Hub has no location and no weather.

Some hives go to a different apiary

  1. Open the hive → ⋮ → Settings → Move hive to another apiary.
  2. Select the target apiary and tap Move.
  3. The hive moves with its devices and all its history.

You can move a hive with a VitalSensor or a Scale only to an apiary with a Hub. The devices must be up to 35 m from the Hub of the new apiary. If not, they do not send data.

Good to know

  • Only the apiary owner can move a hive.
  • You can move the hive back at any time.

The Hub sends its position a few times per day. The app gets the weather forecast one time per day, in the morning. Thus the new location and the weather usually appear on the day after the move.
