How to record queen data and a queen replacement¶
Plan: Apisense AI and Apisense PRO AI
The queen data is in the hive settings, in the Queen section. There you record the breeding year, the origin, the insemination method and a note. After you replace the queen, change this data and add a note with the replacement date.
Where the queen data is¶
- Open the hive.
- Tap the menu with three dots in the top bar. Select Settings.
- On the Hive settings screen, expand the Queen section.
Another way: in the Hive state tab, touch the queen card. The app opens the Queen section.
The Queen section contains:
- Queen breeding year,
- Queen origin: Own breeding, Bought (domestic), Bought (abroad) or Unknown,
- Queen insemination method: Instrumental, Natural or Unknown,
- Beekeeper's note: text or a voice recording.
The app has no separate field for the queen marking. Record the marking colour in Beekeeper's note.
How to record a queen replacement¶
- Open Hive settings and expand the Queen section.
- Change Queen breeding year, Queen origin and Queen insemination method.
- Tap Save. The app shows Changes saved.
- Add a note in the Notes tab of the hive, for example "Queen replaced 12.06, bought in the country". The note keeps the replacement date in the hive history.
The app shows only the current queen data. After you save new data, you do not see the previous data in the app. Thus, before the change, record the data of the old queen in a note.
Queen data when you add a hive¶
The Add hive wizard has a collapsed Queen (optional) section. You can skip it. The app tells you: You can change the frames, bottom board and queen later in the hive settings.
Who can change the queen data¶
The apiary owner or a person with full access changes the queen data. With a lower access level, the fields are read-only.
