How to record a honey harvest

Plan: Apisense AI and Apisense PRO AI

In a hive with a Scale, you do not record the harvest manually. The Scale detects the decrease of mass, and you confirm it as Harvest. In a hive without a Scale, record the harvest in a note. The app has no field for the harvested kilograms or the number of frames.

Honey harvest in a hive with a Scale

  1. Remove the honey as usual. The Scale detects the decrease of the hive mass. Apisense PRO AI
  2. Open the hive. Select the Hive state tab.
  3. Find the Unusual weight drop in the hive card below the Weight chart. Or expand the Weight card and open a To confirm event in the Events section.
  4. Select Harvest.
  5. Tap Save. The app shows Answer saved.

A confirmed harvest goes into the sum Confirmed honey since the start of the {year} season in the Harvest tab and into the Harvest ranking. The Scale calculates the harvest mass from the detected decrease of mass. You do not enter it.

The event can show with a delay. The Scale needs approximately one week of data to identify an event. The Scale functions work in the Pro AI plan.

Honey harvest in a hive without a Scale

  1. Open the hive. Select the Notes tab.
  2. Add a note. Write the date, the quantity of honey and the number of frames, for example "Harvest: 12 kg from 5 frames".
  3. Tap Save.

This note does not go into the Harvest tab. The Harvest tab counts only the hives with a Scale.

Honey harvest in the full apiary at one time

Add a note from the apiary screen: Add → Note. An apiary note goes to each hive of this apiary. You cannot select only some hives for one note.

When the Scale did not detect the harvest

  • Look at the Weight chart with the 7 d range or a longer range. With the 24h range, you do not see the events.
  • A small decrease of mass is possibly not an event. Then record the harvest in a note.
