A device has no connection: what to do¶
Plan: Apisense PRO AI
First check that the devices have power: the Hub is charged, and the VitalSensor and the Scale have AA alkaline batteries. Then check the Hub. The VitalSensor and the Scale do not connect when the Hub is offline. If the Hub works and one device does not, the problem is in this device: usually the range or the battery. Do not remove the device and do not add it again.
Step 1: check that the Hub is online¶
On the apiary tile, check that the Hub shows connected. No connection on the apiary tile means that the Hub does not report. Then go to step 2. If the Hub is online, go to step 3.
Step 2: the Hub does not report¶
- Make sure that the Hub is outdoors, not under a roof.
- Check the antennas. Both must be tightened fully by hand and point straight up.
- Check the panel. It must point to the sun, with no shade, with a tilt of at least 20°.
- Make sure that there are no large metal objects or power lines near the Hub.
- Use your phone to check that there is mobile network coverage at this place.
- The Hub can be discharged. Connect it to a USB-C charger, for example a power bank. After charging, the Hub connects by itself.
The problem continues? Write to bee@apisense.ai. Attach a photo of the Hub installation place: the area around it, the panel and the antennas.
Step 3: the VitalSensor or the Scale does not connect¶
- Check the distance. The device must be up to 35 m from the Hub.
- If the signal is weak (Signal to Hub: weak), turn the VitalSensor or the full frame by 180°. The LED of the VitalSensor must point to the Hub. On the Scale, the black box must point to the Hub.
- You can also turn the Hub by 90° or move it nearer to the hives. Then check the signal of the other devices.
- Check the batteries. Remove them and put them in again as the + and - marks show. After you put in the batteries, the LED must flash quickly. On the Scale, the LED is in the black housing. Replace discharged batteries: How to replace the batteries.
- Wait for the next Hub sync. The device connects by itself.
Still no connection after a few hours? Write to bee@apisense.ai and give the serial number of the device. The number is in Hive settings → Devices.
When you swapped Hubs between apiaries¶
Each Hub knows the list of devices of its apiary. After you physically swap them, the Hubs do not see their hives. The easiest solution: put each Hub back in its place. The devices come back at the next sync. You do not lose data.
Good to know¶
- Some devices work and some do not: the problem is in these devices, not in the Hub.
- A device shows values that are not possible in a hive, and they do not become normal after a few hours? The device is damaged. Write to us and give the serial number: we arrange a replacement. Do not replace the batteries in the hope that this helps.
