How to move a VitalSensor or a Scale to another hive¶
Plan: Apisense PRO AI
To move a VitalSensor or a Scale, use the Move button in the hive settings. You do not scan the QR code. The measurement history stays in the old hive. The charts of the new hive start at the time of the move.
Before you move a VitalSensor¶
If the colony died or was lost, you can move the VitalSensor yourself in the app. You do not have to write to Apisense. A VitalSensor can carry diseases to a different colony. Disinfect the VitalSensor before you install it in a different colony.
How to move a device¶
- Open the hive that has the device.
- Tap ⋮ → Settings → section Devices.
- On the VitalSensor or Scale card, tap Move.
- Select the target hive from the list.
- Check the Move {device}? window and tap Move.
- The app shows {device} is now in hive “{hive}”.
The target hive is grayed out when:
- it already has a device of this type (Already has a VitalSensor. Disconnect it first.),
- its apiary has no Hub (Apiary without a Hub: the device will not measure.).
What happens to the data¶
- The measurements up to the day of the move stay in the history of the old hive.
- The charts of the new hive start at the time of the move.
- Scale: the tare is set back to zero. Tare the Scale in the new hive.
- A hive in a different apiary: the device connects to the Hub of that apiary. The first measurement can come after some tens of minutes. The device must be up to 35 m from the new Hub.
Replace and Disconnect¶
- Replace: scan the new device. The new device measures in this hive. The old device is disconnected from the hive and from your account. The measurements of the old device stay in the hive history.
- Disconnect: the device stops measuring in this hive and is released from your account. The measurement history stays in the hive. To use the device again, scan its QR code.
- You cannot disconnect a ColonyLink. You can only replace it.
A split or a new colony¶
- You make a split from a hive with a VitalSensor: add a note in the app. Install the VitalSensor in a hive that already has its final size.
- The same hive with the same colony goes to a different apiary: do not move the devices. Move the full hive in Hive settings → Move hive to another apiary. The hive keeps its devices and all its history.
- A new colony is a new hive in the app. Create a new hive and move the devices to it.
Good to know¶
- Only the apiary owner can move, replace and disconnect devices.
- The Hub stays with the apiary. To change the Hub, go to Apiary settings, section Hub → Replace.
