How to check that the devices work, and the battery level¶
Plan: Apisense PRO AI
You see the Hub state on the apiary tile. You see the VitalSensor and Scale state on the hive tile. The details are in the apiary settings and the hive settings. The app shows the battery in words, not in percent. Device data is in the Pro AI plan.
Hub state¶
On the apiary tile (Apiaries tab):
- Hub with connected: the Hub connects to the server.
- No connection: the Hub does not report.
- The LTE signal icon and the Hub battery icon.
- Last contact: {date}: when the Hub last reported.
- Active hives {a}/{t}: how many hives of the apiary work, out of all hives. A hive works when the Hub is connected and at least one device of the hive reports. A hive without a VitalSensor and a Scale also counts as active.
More: open the apiary → ⋮ → Settings → section Hub. There you see LTE, Battery, Last report and the device versions. The Hub battery has these states: Charged, OK, Low, Depleted, No data. At Low, put the Hub in the sun or connect a charger.
The app does not show if the Hub is charging now. You see only the battery level.
VitalSensor and Scale state¶
On the hive tile (Hives tab or the list of hives in the apiary), a device can have a status:
- Awaiting connection: the device did not connect to the Hub yet.
- Waiting for the first measurement: the device connected but did not send a measurement.
- No connection: the device stopped connecting to the Hub.
- Replace the battery on your next visit or Replace the battery as soon as possible: the battery is almost empty.
- Battery depleted: replace the batteries.
No status next to a device means that the device works.
More: open the hive → ⋮ → Settings → section Devices. The VitalSensor and Scale card shows Signal to Hub (strong, medium, weak), Battery, Last report, Hardware version and Software version.
How to read the VitalSensor and Scale battery level¶
In Hive settings, the battery has one of these descriptions:
- Over a year left
- A few months left
- Replace the battery on your next visit
- Replace the battery as soon as possible
- Battery depleted
- No data
When the battery is almost empty, a low battery alert also appears in the Alerts tab.
One set of batteries lasts up to 12 months in the VitalSensor and up to 36 months in the Scale.
Good to know¶
- The app does not show when the device reports next time.
- The LEDs of the devices do not show the battery level or errors. You check the state only in the app.
- In a plan without device data, you can only view the devices.
