How to move a hive to another apiary

Open Hive settings and tap Move hive to another apiary. The hive goes to the new apiary with its devices and all its history. You can move a hive with a VitalSensor or a Scale only to an apiary with a Hub.

How to move a hive step by step

  1. Open the hive.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu and select Settings.
  3. Tap Move hive to another apiary.
  4. Select the target apiary from the list.
  5. Read the Move the hive? window and tap Move.
  6. The app shows Hive moved to the apiary “{name}”.

What moves with the hive

  • The devices of the hive: ColonyLink, VitalSensor, Scale.
  • All the history: measurements, inspections, notes and other entries.
  • You can move the hive back at any time.

After you move a hive with devices

The VitalSensor and the Scale connect to the Hub of the new apiary. Put the hive in the range of this Hub. Out of range, the devices do not connect and there is no data. You do not need the Hub of the old apiary.

Good to know

  • Only the apiary owner can move a hive.
  • A hive with a VitalSensor or a Scale: apiaries without a Hub are grey in the list. Disconnect the Scale and the VitalSensor from the hive, or add a Hub to the target apiary.
  • You can move a hive without a VitalSensor and a Scale to any of your apiaries.
  • You move one hive at a time. Move several hives one after the other.
  • When you have no other apiary, the app shows You have no other apiary to move the hive into. and the Add apiary button.
  • To move only a device to another hive, use Move on the device card in Hive settings, Devices section. This is a different action from moving a hive.
