The colony died or the hive is empty. What to do in the app

Plan: Apisense AI and Apisense PRO AI

Record a note about what occurred. Disconnect the VitalSensor and the Scale from the hive in the app. The measurement history stays in this hive. Do not delete the hive if you want to keep the history of this colony.

Record what occurred

  1. Open the hive. Select the Notes tab.
  2. Add a note, for example "Colony died, robber bees in the hive. 03.10". You can add a photo.
  3. Tap Save.

If the Scale detected a sudden decrease of mass, confirm the weight event. Select, for example, Robbing or Other. See What happened to the hive? Weight events. Apisense PRO AI

Disconnect the VitalSensor and the Scale

  1. Remove the VitalSensor from the hive.
  2. In the app, open the hive. Tap the menu with three dots → Settings.
  3. Expand the Devices section.
  4. On the VitalSensor card, tap Disconnect. Confirm with Disconnect {device} (here: Disconnect VitalSensor).
  5. Do the same for the Scale, if it does not stay under this hive.

After you disconnect a device, the measurement history stays in this hive. The device is released from your account. To use it again, scan its QR code. Only the apiary owner disconnects devices. You cannot disconnect a ColonyLink. You can only replace it.

A new colony in the same place

A new colony is a new hive in the app. Add a new hive and connect the devices to it. Instead of disconnecting, you can tap Move on the device card and select the new hive. The old hive stays with the history of the previous colony. The measurements of the old colony do not go to the new hive.

Disinfect the VitalSensor before you install it in a different colony. The VitalSensor moves together with the frame, thus it can move a disease. You move the VitalSensor in the app with the Move button. You do not have to write to Apisense.

Deleting the hive

  1. Hive settings → Delete hive.
  2. Confirm with Yes, delete.

You cannot undo the deletion of a hive. The hive goes out of the app together with its notes, inspections and tasks. The devices are disconnected. You can add them to a different hive.
